The second-largest city in the northern Idaho region goes to Lewiston, Idaho.

Also referred to as L-Town, River City, and Lewyton, the city of Lewiston was founded in 1862 in the wake of the gold rush. Before Boise became the capital of Idaho, Lewiston held the title from 1863 to 1864.

Seated in Nez Perce County at the confluence of the Snake River and Clearwater River, Lewiston serves as a recreation destination for the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area – visitors can take jet boat tours, can experience picturesque wine tasting through the many Lewis-Clark Valley wineries, or can catch a summer concert along the river.
